The problem

Africa does not lack talent. It lacks the route.

Both gaps are institutional, not personal. They will not close through individual scholarships or individual donations alone.

The professional gap

Digital-asset laws are being enacted faster than the workforce to implement them exists. Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda each enacted primary virtual-asset legislation in the 2025 to 2026 window, joining South Africa's established regime, yet almost every compliance role in the sector asks for prior experience nobody will give a first-time applicant.

The community gap

The gap between what a community needs and what it can access is rarely about goodwill. It is about safeguarding architecture, legal pathways, referral networks and research that let existing local and faith institutions do their work safely and at scale.

Partners can close both gaps directly, and can see exactly what their funding produced. Reporting is built into the relationship, not promised as an afterthought.

Legum Digital Assets & Compliance Fellowship

A 16-week, implementation-first fellowship building the digital-asset, compliance and regulatory workforce African markets currently lack. Fellows learn across 13 modules, then build real deliverables inside one of five career tracks, before leading a workstream to a capstone defence. Partners fund scholarships, cohorts, mentorship and applied research.

Through the Legum Impact Fellowship Scholarship Programme, partners fund full, partial and access-level scholarships for participants emerging from the Legum Impact ecosystem and other qualifying pathways to undertake the Digital Assets & Compliance Fellowship. Sponsors fund opportunity. An independent process selects scholars.

Scholarship levels

Full Scholarship: 100% of tuition and defined programme benefits.
Partial Scholarship: 50% of tuition.
Access Scholarship: 25% of tuition.

An independent Scholarship Selection Committee decides every award. Sponsors do not control curriculum, assessments, research findings, scholarship selection or policy conclusions. Candidates apply to the Fellowship itself; scholarship status is determined as part of that same review.

Impact partnership

Impact partnership funds four connected programmes, each addressing a specific, defined gap. Aligned to UN SDGs 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 17.

Legum Healing Justice

Trauma-informed community development integrating psychosocial support, peacebuilding, legal empowerment, women's empowerment, youth engagement and economic resilience, delivered through trusted local partners including the Naza Agape Foundation and Sisters of Esther.

Legum Youth Network

Amplifying youth voices in justice and governance for 15 to 30 year-olds across Nigeria and the Sahel, through policy participation, civic engagement, digital rights advocacy and legal literacy.

Access to Justice Program

Removing legal, institutional and social barriers to people exercising their rights, delivered through Legum Help Centers and the Legum mobile application.

Legum Impact Network

Senior lawyers, regulators, compliance officers and policy professionals volunteering expertise across the three programmes above.

Every Impact partnership has a defined division of labour, a joint governance body, an agreed safeguarding framework and shared outputs. Legum does not enter partnerships that duplicate a partner's existing work; partnerships are built to let a partner do more of what they already do well, with stronger systems behind them.
